THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday approved the appointment of three executive directors for Equitorial Trust Bank (ETB).

THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday approved the appointment of three executive directors for Equitorial Trust Bank (ETB).
The move, according to the CBN, is meant to strengthen the executive management of the bank and entrench it as a major player in the nation’s banking industry and the new directors are Messrs. Femi Obaleke, Sola Fakeye and Tilewa Adebajo.
Before their appointments, Mr. Obaleke and Mr. Fakeye were general manager/zonal business head, South South and deputy general manager/business development of the bank respectively while Mr. Adebajo was the chief executive of investment banking boutique.
Mr. Obaleke is a banker with 20 years experience in credit administration, treasury operations and international operations. He is a product of University of Ibadan, University of Port Harcourt and Abubarkar Tafawa Balewa University. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Science degree in Management Economics. He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
Mr. Fakeye who until his appointment was a deputy general manager in charge of Business Development and chief compliance officer is bringing his experience spanning over two decades into the board of the bank. A product of Obafemi Awolowo and University of Lagos where he bagged a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Mr. Fakeye is a Fellow, Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), and  Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA).
Mr. Tilewa Adebajo is a banker with experience in international banking and finance with deep knowledge in credit administration. His board level experience has established him as an accomplished corporate and investment banker and corporate finance expert who is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the bank.
After his career in international finance markets with JP Morgan Chase, the new ETB ED in the last 12 years had ventured into the African markets with deep involvement in corporate banking, academics, policy and financial advisory, project finance and consulting services.
Late Kolawole was a Professional – CIBN
THE Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), has stated that it and indeed the banking industry, mourn the sudden death of Mr. Samuel Ereola Kolawole, which occurred last week in Ilorin , Kwara State .
According to a statement by the CIBN and signed by Uju Ogubunka, its registrar/chief executive and made available to BusinessWorld, Mr. Kolawole, an exemplary professional who devoted the greater part of his entire active life to the banking profession was the president/chairman of Council of the Institute from May 2004 to May 2006 after serving the Institute in various capacities.
The institute stated that during Kolawole’s tenure he rallied the banking industry to support banking sector reforms and consolidation exercise. Mr. Kolawole also vigorously pursued the amendment of CIBN Act 1990 which culminated in CIBN Act No. 5 2007 that was eventually signed into law by former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in April 2007.
